Happy 2012, Spoonbenders! Hope your holiday season was wonderful and hope that the upcoming months are wonderful for you as well. This month we have three wonderful contributions for your reading pleasure. Lee Adams offers us a morosely comical look at The Demon Chimp of Prague, W.B. Stickel helps people understand the sacrifices a writer must make for his craft in Paring Down and Edward Wells II takes us on a cyclical life journey from and returning to birth with his piece needle, needle. We hope you enjoy these pieces as much as we have.
Anthology news. Dismal. Because bending spoons and its parent company, Spoonbender Press, are operating as not-for-profit and completely funded by the editors' pocket lint, we are having some trouble scraping together the funds required to purchase a new ISBN and distribution that will allow volume 2 of A Spoonful of Imagination to be ordered by customers in brick and mortar bookstores. As soon as we get that money together, publication will begin. Everything else is finished, just need to pay the ferryman.
Second quarter. We will be taking submissions for the second quarter issue (which will not be included in this anthology) through March 20 and the theme for that issue is vacation. Spring Break gone wrong, reasons why a remote cabin in the woods is the last place to "get away from it all," that sort of thing. As always, any subject matter (as long as it questions "Why" and makes us uneasy) will be considered but stories about vacationers will be given a special feature spot.
Happy reading and stay warm.
